I can't do it all. Really, there are not enough hours in the day to do... it... all. I woke today at 4:30am, not by choice but by hot flash. Since that time I have:
Read a spiritual passage
Made juice for my family
Drank my juice
Took a shower
Dried my hair
Put on makeup (just a bit)
Made myself protein "coffee" and drank it
Brushed my teeth
Packed up food for an event tonight
Packed my lunch
Composed this blog in my head
Drove my son to school (an hour)
Coordinated my family's schedule for event tonight
Got gas
Walked for 28 minutes
Meditated for 20 minutes
Met a psychotherapist who just moved into the same building as I
Responded to a text from a client
Reinstalled some software on my computer
Started writing this blog post
It isn't even 10am yet. My lifecoach has mentioned it to me a couple of times that I need to take it easy on myself. LOL. She and I are working on balance right now. My latest dilemma is how to balance the need for self-care with the rest of my life. I mean, just how does one pray, meditate, exercise, get inspired, eat healthy, take a shower, etc while living a purposeful life.
The question the lifecoach posed to me last night was what part of self-care is absolutely essential for me to stay centered and grounded so that the work I do doesn't undo me. Hmmm, that is a great question! Today, that meant that I skipped going to the YMCA and I walked instead. I usually go to Zumba because I like the dancing and the social aspect, but tonight I have a social event planned, as well as a full day of appointments. Zumba just didn't fit.
It's all about balance. While I know that self-care is not optional, spending too much time on it causes stress too. Just like spending too much time blogging! It's 10:06am, time to stop writing!
